Good morning, McKinney.
🏛️ Government
SNAP benefits will lapse in November amid a government shutdown, and DoorDash will deliver 1 million free meals while GoPuff will offer $50 grocery credits for SNAP users—local food banks and McKinney restaurants are also preparing to assist families with discounted groceries.
These measures aim to help families manage food costs as they face tough choices between buying food and paying bills.
Many voters in Collin County, including McKinney, are changing how they vote as more people from different backgrounds move in—this makes elections closer and puts new pressure on leaders to focus on good schools and safe streets.
Local activists and former officials say these changes may shift local politics before next year's election.
🏈 Sports
Dallas-area high school football teams will play crucial Week 10 games as playoff berths and seeding continue to be decided, with McKinney Boyd facing elimination if they lose to Plano East.
