BUSINESS NEWS

  • City officials announced that McKinney National Airport will open a dedicated US Customs facility—providing private inspection space and coordinated CBP operations to cut turnaround times for international flights. The facility is part of a $79 million terminal expansion—built to serve general aviation and attract more corporate and budget carriers as international arrivals are set to increase.  The Dallas Morning News
  • Pinkitzel launched its first Texas store today on Louisiana Street in Downtown McKinney—this candy and cupcake boutique offers made-from-scratch cakes, a cupcake decorating bar and bulk candy selections for family events. The new shop joins an expanding Downtown scene and will be followed by another location in Dallas soon.  Collin County Magazine
  • Broken Yolk Café announced plans to expand in Collin County with new locations in Allen, Frisco & Plano. The move follows a recent franchise agreement that included the acquisition of its McKinney restaurant.  Collin County Magazine

SPORTS NEWS

  • In a District 5-5A football game at Kuykendall Stadium on September 26, 2024, Grayson Myer of Wakeland High School scored both touchdowns and recorded two interceptions—helping his team win 14-10.  The Dallas Morning News
  • During a McKinney High School basketball game, junior William Sherman—who has Down syndrome—made a remarkable shot and celebrated as a video of his play went viral.  FOX 4
  • On Tuesday, Plano East beat McKinney in three sets—25—14, 25—18, 25—23—and earned their fifth straight win to close the first half of district play. Coach Sarah Perez said strong offense and teamwork helped the Lady Panthers secure a top-four spot in District 6—6A.  Collin County Magazine
  • Memorial defeated Emerson at Emerson High School by winning sets 25-14, 25-15, and 25-11 to improve to a 4-1 record while Emerson dropped to 2-3 in the 11-5A standings—key players Faith Roulston-Aliu and Samantha Everidge led the attack throughout the match.  Collin County Magazine
