Good morning, McKinney.

Texas does not observe Daylight Saving Time because its southern location offers long summer days and many residents dislike the time change—Hawaii is the only other state with a similar practice, and state lawmakers have discussed but maintained standard time for now.

Last Friday, heavy rain and lightning stopped several high school football games, and coaches disagreed on whether to mark the games as no contest or count them as wins—some saying the UIL should set clear statewide guidelines—leaving outcomes to team consensus.

Dallas-area high school football teams are set for a busy Week 3 as Forney meets Waxahachie on Friday at 7 p.m.—McKinney will host Plano on Thursday at 7 p.m. while other key matchups and player stats guide Taylor’s picks for district play.
