GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Police pay rankings released for 2025 show that officers in Collin and Denton counties earn some of the highest salaries in Dallas-Fort Worth—departments in Frisco, Allen, Plano, and McKinney rank among the top five. McKinney Courier-Gazette
- ➤ City officials, engineers, and residents discussed the Lower 5 Plaza project and its noise and safety issues at a public hearing on July 30. They planned measures to reduce noise and improve safety at the project site in McKinney. McKinney Courier-Gazette
- ➤ The McKinney City Council passed the FY2026 budget lowering the tax rate on September 3rd, which means homeowners may pay less next year. City officials said the change is expected to reduce tax burdens — more details will be shared as the new fiscal year begins. City of McKinney
- ➤ Fairview Town Council voted in February to form a citizen’s task force to study how McKinney’s airport expansion could affect property values, the environment, and the town’s quality of life — the group will gather data and recommend mitigating actions in about four months. Local officials say the task force will play a key role in protecting Fairview’s long-term interests. The Dallas Morning News
