- ➤ McKinney police are investigating a case on Wednesday when a suspect wearing a ski mask and glasses stole a 10-week-old microchipped German Shepherd puppy from Petland at Craig Crossing on South Central Expressway around 10:15 p.m.—staff say he filled out a credit application before fleeing the scene. - ➤ Today, McKinney ISD approved teacher raises with its new budget — the changes lowered the deficit to $7.5 million through staff cuts and increased revenue from property taxes. McKinney Courier-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Collin County Commissioners Court approved $2.3 million in equipment purchases on Monday to switch in-person voting to hand-marked paper ballots for the November election—voters will mark ballots by hand while DS200 scanners continue counting the votes. The investment will cover voting booths, printers and laptops while ensuring accessible ballot-marking devices remain available for voters with disabilities. FOX 4
- ➤ The U.S. Department of Justice ended its investigation into EPIC City on June 25th after developers confirmed the planned community will welcome all residents as it moves forward with plans for over 1,000 homes, a mosque, a school and other amenities on 402 acres (in Collin and Hunt counties). Community Capital Partners expects to begin the permitting process in July or August and will revise its marketing to meet the Fair Housing Act requirements. FOX 4
