  • McKinney will soon welcome a new Trader Joe’s at 8101 Eldorado Parkway — the second store in town — which will complement its current store on Craig Drive.  McKinney Courier-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Eta Aquarids meteor shower—caused by debris from Halley’s Comet—is active and will peak today, with observers in McKinney seeing 10 to 15 meteors per hour in ideal conditions. Early predawn hours away from city lights will offer the best chance to view the fast meteors and their bright, lingering trains.  FOX 4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • McKinney officials announced that the mayoral race will go to a run-off election between Bill Cox and Scott Sanford as neither candidate received a majority of the votes in the initial round — voters will return to the polls to choose the new mayor.  McKinney Courier-Gazette
