- ➤ Trader Joe's announced it will soon open a store in McKinney at 8101 Eldorado Parkway + the new location is about five miles from an existing site and will add to its Texas lineup. The Dallas Morning News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Election officials in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties reported early results from bond issues and leadership races as polls closed May 3rd—residents will monitor updated races across North Texas today. FOX 4
- ➤ Bill Cox led McKinney’s mayoral race with 47% of early and mail-in votes while Scott Sanford trailed with 41%—no candidate reached a majority and a runoff may be required on June 7. Other contests showed Geré Feltus ahead in the District 3 council race with 54%, Ernest Lynch leading the at-large contest with 31%, and Justin Beller reelected in District 1 as about 13,400 ballots were counted. - ➤ On Friday, May 2, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney was delayed by rain and ended with hometown leader Scottie Scheffler holding strong—officials were unsure when play would completely resume.
