Good morning, McKinney.

The City of McKinney is celebrating National Community Development Week from April 21 to 25 to highlight federally funded programs that support affordable housing, infrastructure improvements, and services for low- to moderate-income residents.

The city currently uses $912,415 in Community Development Block Grant funds and $346,342.18 in HOME funds from HUD (used for housing repairs and tenant-based rental assistance).

Today marks the start of early voting for the 2025 municipal and school board elections, which continue until April 29 with Election Day on May 3.

In McKinney, former state representative Scott Sanford is recommended to replace outgoing Mayor George Fuller — the choice comes as residents demand smart growth and better planning.

Mayoral candidates in McKinney are split on the planned expansion of McKinney National Airport — their differing views raise questions about the project's impact on the city's future.

McKinney's new city hall opened today at 401 E.

Virginia St. Mayor George Fuller said the building serves as a hub for essential city services and community pride.
